Ten years as a floral designer in shops across Chicago taught me what flowers can't do... last forever.

I built bouquets that made brides cry happy tears on their wedding day, watched them carry them down the aisle, hand them off for photos, hold them through every toast, all the while knowing every single one would be wilted within the week.

​

That never sat right with me. All that work, all that meaning, gone before the thank-you cards were even mailed.

​

Then I got married myself. My father passed before he could walk me down the aisle. There was no version of that morning where he'd be standing beside me, and no florist could change that. So I found a way to bring him anyway.

​

I hand-crafted a small image of him and sewed it into my own couture silk bouquet, a real-touch "forever bouquet" I made myself, by hand with love. Something private, held close in my hands for the entire walk down the aisle.

 

Not preserved after the fact, not pressed months later and hoping it still resembled what I remembered. But built to last from the very first wrapping.

That bouquet is still with me today. It hasn't browned. It hasn't dried out. It didn't end up in a random box in a closet somewhere or trapped in resin. It sits in my home exactly as it looked on my wedding day, because it was never allowed to die in the first place.
